STAMFORD, CONN – A week after launching his campaign for Governor, Tom Foley released his first round of prominent Republicans endorsing his campaign. A list that includes seven super-delegates to next year’s nominating convention.
“Tom Foley is the only candidate with a proven record of turning around failing businesses and managing literally thousands of employees,” said Republican State Central Committee member Jay Berardino. “With the economic crisis we’re in, Connecticut needs someone with Tom’s unique executive experience to come in and turn things around.”
Since June, Tom has been traveling across Connecticut listening to people’s concerns. This first round of endorsements is a sign that Republican leaders are taking note.
“We need a Governor who knows you can’t balance the budget on the backs of local government,” said Canton First Selectman Dick Barlow. “Tom understands that it’s municipalities who are paying the price for the indecision of our political leaders in Hartford.”
Those endorsing Tom Foley for Governor include:
- Dick Barlow, First Selectman of Canton
- Mike Smith, Sprague RTC Chair
- Mayan Antonucci, State Central (Canton)
- Jay Berardino, State Central (Durham)
- Joe Borges, State Central (Bridgeport)
- Sonya Dean, State Central (Windsor)
- Diane Generous, State Central (Sprague)
- Mary Porter, State Central (Derby)
- Dick Reilly, State Central (Hamden)
- Charlie Glazer, Former RNC Committeeman
- Mary Alford, Candidate for Bristol First Selectman 2009
